Suvarnabhumi Airport

Thai Airways’ current home base, Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport, opened in 2006 and is one of the newest and largest airports. At Suvarnabhumi Airport, you will have access to numerous services, from internet café and post office to sauna and spa. The Thai Airways lounge spa at Suvarnabhumi Airport was named best lounge spa in the world in 2015.

Suvarnabhumi Airport is located about 25 km east of downtown Bangkok. Trains and buses commute between the airport and the centre of Bangkok. The easiest connection is by train: you reach the centre of Bangkok in about 15 minutes.

On the plane

On your Thai Airways flight, you can enjoy the Thai hospitality and its delicious cuisine. Economy Class travellers can, in general, choose between a western or Thai main course on intercontinental flights. Your meal is, in any case, of great quality: in 2014, Thai Airways won the Skytrax award for best Economy Class catering. In addition, you will have a comfortable seat with interactive TV screen that provides access to a wide range of in-flight entertainment.

In addition to Economy Class, Thai Airways distinguishes the Royal Silk Class (Business Class) and Royal First Class. Business Class passengers dispose of a seat that can be transformed into a comfortable flat bed (180 degrees) or recliner (160-170 degrees). Via THAI Sky connect, you can stay connected to the world: during the entire flight, you will have Wi-Fi access. You will experience the ultimate experience of Thai hospitality by flying Royal First Class: once you are welcomed by a glass of champagne, you can relax in your own semi-private suite, where you will be treated to the best culinary dishes. Want to take a (quick) nap? Not a problem, since all First Class seats are equipped with flat-bed seating. During your flight, you will have access to the new Audio-Visual On-Demand in-flight entertainment system (available on most planes), including hundreds of films, TV programs, music and more

Thai Airways owns 83 aircrafts, including the new and modern Boeing 787 (6 aircrafts). From Brussels, you will travel on board of the Thai Airways’ Boeing 777. In 2017, the airline expects a newer model of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner to add to its fleet, just like a number of Airbus A3500-900 aircrafts.

Frequent flyer benefits

Thai Airways is a founding member of Star Alliance. Thai Airways travellers that are Star Alliance frequent flyers, can therefore enjoy diverse frequent flyer benefits! Thai Airways’ own frequent flyer programme is called Royal Orchid, and distinguishes four levels: Entry Level, Silver, Gold and Platinum. Via this programme, you can benefit from a more generous baggage allowance, priority in baggage handling, check-in and boarding (depending on your frequent flyer status). You can find an overview of the benefits per level on the Royal Orchid Plus page on the Thai Airways website.

Thai hospitality is even present at Thai Airways: in 2014, the airline won the Skytrax award for best staff in Asia. The same year, the Thai Airways Economy Class catering was awarded. In 2015, Thai Airways won the TTG Travel Awards for ‘Best South-East Asian Airline’ and the Skytrax award for ‘World’s Best Airline Lounges Spa Facility’, among others.
