You start in the Harajuku district with a visit to the Meiji-Jingu shrine in the middle of a large city park. Then you admire the architectural gems and luxury boutiques along Omotesando Avenue and sip tea in Sunny Hills, a spectacular building. With the metro you head to Shibuya for lunch (optional). At the famous Shibuya Crossing you take the time for people watching while you pay attention to the almost mechanical spectacle of hundreds of pedestrians crossing the intersection in all directions at the same time. You will see the statue of the faithful Hachiko dog, and numerous fashion boutiques, including Tower 109. Next you explore the business Shinjuku district with salary men. From the 45th floor of the Metropolitan building you can enjoy a beautiful city views. In Akihabara, the district of the Otaku (or computer nerds) complete focus is on electronics and IT. Lunaparks there are several floors high! You complete your introduction to Tokyo with a visit to the Kanda Myojin shrine.

Tokyo: Day Trip to Kamakura

Mount Fuji and Hakone
Tokyo: Day Trip to Mount Fuji & Hakone
The iconic Mount Fuji speaks to our imagination. During this day trip you'll travel from Tokyo through the countryside right up to the foot of the mountain where you will board a bus to the 5th Station (possibly closed in winter). From here you have beautiful views of the summit.
After lunch, you ride the Hakone cable car which offers magnificent panoramic views of the region and Mount Fuji and make a picturesque boat ride on the lake Ashi. The reflection of Mount Fuji in the water and the ravishing scenery ensure you return with unforgettable memories of this day out. Return by bus to Tokyo where you arrive in the evening.

Tokyo: Day Trip to Nikko
Explore the beautiful sanctuary and natural setting of Nikko National Park, located at a mere two hours from Tokyo in the company of your guide. Nikko is renowned for its natural beauty and has for centuries been a centre of Shinto and Buddhism. You visit the main shrine, the Toshogu shrine, which stands out thanks to its countless skilled carvings and use of gold leaf. You are guide around in this elaborate shrine complex. A typically Japanese lunch is included. In the afternoon, you head for Lake Chuzenji and the Kegon Falls. .

Tokyo: Robot show
Expect the unexpected and get ready to be blown away! No visit to Tokyo can be complete without attending a Robot Show in the heart of the entertainment district of Shinjuku. You are welcomed by a robot band that features live music and prepares you for what is to come: an non-stop, whirling one hour robot show in which all robot clichés and modern technology surface. After this adrenaline rush you sleep no more!

Tokyo: Sumo Contest
The national sport par excellence is Sumo wrestling. And the good thing is; nothing prevents you from attending one of the official traditional competitions. In Tokyo they take place only 3 times a year. Each competition last 2 weeks. Be smart, seats are limited so do not postpone!
