Route 66 | The Mother Road

The mother of all highways, Route 66, was completed in 1926. They don't get more iconic than this. This road (originally a cart track) was built from Chicago to link to Los Angeles in order for refugee farm families to access the west. Over the years the track was tarred but today large parts have fallen into disuse due to the nearby Interstate I40 which replaced much of the Mother Road.
