New York: Guided by a Belgian Insider.

Patrick van Rosendaal, Connections exclusive New York City guide, is a cosmopolitan citizen Belgian born and bred and knows better than anyone how to appeal to the typically Belgian Burgundian lifestyle, culture curiosity and love of gastronomy during his Big Apple explorations.

The American Dream

As an alumnus of the prestigious Brussels Vlerick Business School the stage was set for a successful realisation of his two fondest childhood dreams: to turn travel into a profession and to found "a lovely family"(sic). The cultural adventure cities of Paris and London were this initial playground. Very soon, from here, the love of a woman would give him wings and fly Patrick to the United States. The relationship was not to be and consequently Patrick washed up on the shores of New York City, where he lost his heart all over again. This time to the touching, enchanting, iron-Lady: Liberty. Loving her proved tougher than expected but the passion grew stronger by the day and with it came the craving to share his enthusiasm and the question how to do tackle that successfully.

A shared passion, a common bond

Passing the exam as a New York City guide was an absolute milestone. From now on Patrick could officially call himself the first Belgian NYC guide. He started off his career on the famous NYC Gray Line buses and at the Bike and Roll points-of-rent, the benchmark standard for guided bike tours. During three years he scrutinised Manhattan and its immediate surroundings from East to West and top to bottom by Vespa and by foot in order to unravel its mystique. The now more experienced and recognized official member of GANYC, the prestigious professional association for NY city guides, was ready for the next step: creating his private company: BENY.

Never give up on a dream

BE NY stands for Belgians in New York has become a true success story. Soon, its continual growth brought along the necessity to expand BENY. Belgian NYC free-lancers, likewise intrigued by the vibrant city scene, its awesome architecture and the incredibly diverse ethnicity of America's largest community stepped onto the stage. Today, each one of the BE NY team members feels privileged to guide you to famous and less famous spots in the world-famous City That Never Sleeps and is especially keen on sharing their insiders knowledge with a touch of surprise thus turning 'hoo''s and' haa's into aha- moments of realisation which will anchor themselves firmly in your memory. Together they stand by The Lady who has stubbornly and obstinately set her mind on charming the world with her tantalizing appeal and making a lasting impression that tastes like more. Patrick still acts as a guide today though some of his time is devoted to TV talk shows and travel programmes. He has been a guest on Café Corsari, tvidwebttv, Vlaanderen Vakantieland and…many more.
