Must do’s in Milan

Duomo: this Gothic masterpiece is one of the largest Roman Catholic cathedrals in the world. It is worth the wait to walk on the roof of the Cathedral and enjoy the absolutely breath-taking views over the city from amongst the fascinating forest of 135 spires and 3200 statues. Simply unforgettable.

Galleria Vittorio Emanuele: right next to the Duomo you will find the Galleria Vittorio Emmanuele II, one of the oldest shopping malls in the world. The architectural beauty of this marble four-story double arcade and its cast iron glass roof and dome is bound to strike you. Home to the most renowned Italian fashion brands and luxury retailers, bookstore, restaurants and bars it is the place to see-and-be-seen.

San Siro: a true temple of football fans. The stadium, located just outside the centre of Milan, is home to both Inter Milan and AC Milan and can accommodate as many as 85,000 supporters.

Milan: Insider tips

Osteria La Piola: if it is the rich and succulent, authentic Lombard cuisine you are looking for during your city trip to Milan, than Osteria La Piola in Viale Abruzzi is the place-to-be. Welcome with a smile, you will be served simple yet exquisite plates of food. Wines and desserts too are a real treat here, so buon appetito!

Da Luini: should you feel peckish at noon, and brave enough to step away from regular sandwiches and finger food, why not try ‘panzerotti’ (savoury filled pastries) at Luini’s. Queues may be long but your delicious, budget-friendly panzarotto will be worth the sacrifice.

Acquario Civico: This aquarium is located at the edge of the Sempione Park and is the only remnant of the 1906 World Expo in Milan. The imposing statue of Neptune on the façade of the Art Nouveau building will definitely catch your eye.  Inside you will find hundreds of animal and plant species as well as a brilliant library and best of all? Admission is free!
