The Loop is the downtown heart of the City. Here you will find the highest and most beautiful buildings, some positioned spectacularly along the banks of the Michigan river and its original bridges. Bars and restaurants flourish here. Be sure to visit the Millennium Park or why not attend a musical in the theatre district.
The Chicago River flows away from lake Michigan through the city and into the Mississippi. 45 bridges span the river, the best known of which is the bridge on the Michigan Avenue that was built in 1920. The banks are equipped with hiking and biking trail , but a relaxing ride on the river and lake will provide you with narration about some of the city’s stunning features.
If you have booked a day or night cruise on the Chicago River, then head to the Navy Pier to embark on your journey. This one kilometre long pier with restaurants, bars, a 15-story ferris wheel – modelled after the original one, the very first ever - and playgrounds is the ideal place to escape from the hustle and bustle of downtown Chicago.
