The White House: the official residence of the president is impressive. 6 floors, a total of 134 rooms and 35 bathrooms. The chance you get in is small, but fortune favours the prepared. Submit a request as early as 6 months in advance and no less than 21 days in advance. Address yourself to the American Consulate for the correct procedure. What you can do is tour the White House virtually or make a selfie in front of the famous white building.
The National Mall: a huge green park lined with countless monuments and museums. Think of the Lincoln Memorial, the National Museum of American History and the Washington Monument.

If you love art you should definitely take a stroll in the Sculpture Garden of The National Gallery of Art. During summer you may even attend a free jazz concert or music performance.
