Individual

Day 1 - Brussels / Antwerp > The Ardennes (175 km)

Finally, time has come! The road trip you have been looking forward to starts todays. From 2 pm onwards you can pick up your personal Connections campervan at our depot around Brussels or around Antwerp. After a 1-hour thorough explanation you are ready to hit the road! On the first day we planned a 2-hour trip in order to get you acquainted with the ins and outs of your riding hotel and to reach your campsite unruffled.

Suggestions where to stay:
Pont de Bergueme, this cosy campsite is located alongside the Ourthe in Tenneville, a 2-hour drive from Brussels or Antwerp

Day 2 & 3 - The Ardennen > Lac Léman (595 km)

What a feeling. You have just spend the first night in your campervan! Enjoy a delightful breakfast surrounded by nature. Are you ready to exchange Belgium for Switzerland? Purchase your vignette at the border and display it on your windscreen. By the afternoon you should reach the beautiful Lac Léman. This lake is the largest of its kind in both Switzerland and France. Actually the national border runs through the middle of the lake. You may know Lac Léman under its synonym: Lake Geneva. It is good to keep in mind however that the Swiss only refer to it as Lac Léman😊.
Lac Léman offers plenty of opportunity for walks alongside the banks or mountain hikes with stunning views of the lake. Did you bring your bike(s)? Why not plan a cycling trip? Thanks to the easy use of various ferries you can actually cover quite a distance. You will be pleasantly surprised. Be sure to stop at Chaplin's World in the village of Vevey where Charlie Chaplin spend the last 25 years of his life. The unique and picturesque vineyards of Lavaux which border the lake are also worth your while.

Suggestion where to stay:
La Maladaire, located on Lac Léman with a view of the French Alps and Savoie.

Day 4 & 5 - Lac Léman > Lago Maggiore (250 km)

Time to leave Switzerland and drive on to la Bella Italia via the wonderfully winding Simplon Pass through the Swiss Alps and on to one of the largest lakes in Italy, Lago Maggiore.
A must while you are at Lake Maggiore is a visit to Isola Bella, the most famous of the three Borromean Islands and home to beautiful Baroque gardens and palaces. Napoleon and Josephine resided here during the French invasion of Northern Italy. You will soon notice the island more than lives up to its name. Another recommendation is to board the Lago Maggiore Express, a train-boat combination which allows you to fully discover the lake and its surroundings. First you ride two trains through the mountains and various valleys around the lake. Next you sail from the northern point all the way to the south past all the picturesque villages.

Suggestions where to stay:
Camping Village Conca D'Oro, this stylish campsite offers beautiful views of the lake and is located on the beach. (The lake view post supplement is well worth every cent!)

Day 6 > 8 - Lago Maggiore > Lago di Garda (250 km)

Today you drive to the largest lake in Italy and perhaps the most famous: Lago di Garda. En-route you drive past Bergamo, an ideal stop as it is a true gem which deserves to be scrutinisingly discovered. Tip: order a scoop of Stracciatella ice cream in Gelateria La Marianna. The flavour has been invented here!
Roads around Lago di Garda can be very busy at times. A brilliant way to avoid crowds is to explore the lake and its charming villages by boat and take your bike if you please. Villages you will definitely want to see in the north of Garda are: Riva Del Garda, Malcesine and Limone Sul Garda. Between Limone Sul Garda and Riva Del Garda you can ride on the brand new floating cycle path which will eventually lead around the lake. In the south of Garda make sure to put Srimione (best early in the day) and Lazise on your list. Considering there is so much to do and see, you will stay here for 3 nights

Suggestions where to stay:
Chiaro di Luna, this small campsite is located in a particularly tranquil setting in an olive grove and has its own private beach.

Day 9 - Lago di Garda > Hallstätter See (495km)

Today you head north to Austria. (road vignette!). Via the legendary Brenner Pass you reach the enchanting  city of Hallstatt located on the Hallstätter See, the largest lake in Austria. Rumour has it hat the village of Arendelle in the movie Frozen would have been based on this picturesque town.

Tomorrow you have all day to discover its highlights. Start with a walk through the fairy-tale village. Rent a pedal or motor boat to explore the lake and see the village from the water. Take the cable car to the famous Skywalk with a beautiful views of the village, the lake and the surrounding area or board the Krippenstein Bahn which takes you to the 5-finger viewpoint. The platforms here offers 5 separate fingers that stick out from the mountaintop, each a mini platform with a different perspective of the environment. One platform is even equipped with a glass bottom. Not to be missed!

Suggestions where to stay:
Camping am See. This traditional campsite enjoys a prime location on the lake.

Day 11> 13 - Hallstätter See > Bodensee (440 km)

A trip through the Austrian Alps to Germany, that's your programme for today. En-route you drive along the Chiemsee, the largest lake in Bavaria. Make a photo stop at rastplatz Chiemsee or visit the Herrenchiemsee Castle of Ludwig II. Well worth it! In the early afternoon you will arrive at the BodenSee also known as Lake Constance, Germany's largest lake, bordering Switzerland and Austria.
It goes without saying that the Bodensee must feature on the list of large lakes in Europe! It is over 535 km² in size and officially composed of two lakes: the Ober- and Untersee. For divers, the lake offers an additional challenge as it reaches depths of up to 45 meters. You can also practice numerous water sports here such as sailing, paddle boarding, canoeing, surfing ... or just swim and enjoy one of the many beaches.

Suggestions where to stay:
Sandseele OHG, this campsite has a unique location on the island of Reichnau in Lake Constance. It may proof very hard to find a better base!

Day 14 - Bodensee > The Ardennes (550 km)

The end of this road trip draws near. You undertake a final leg towards Belgium where you will stay one more night in The Ardennes.

Suggestions where to stay:
Le Pommier Rustique, very quietly located a short distance from the E25 for a quick connection and easy connection to the depots in Brussels and Antwerp.
