Thanks to its location between sea and mountains and despite its small size Georgia offers several climate types. In the west, near the Black Seae, the climate is subtropical while towards the east it is more mediterranean. In eastern Georgia and especially in Tbilisi, the climate can be best described as continental. In summer, it's a bit warmer; and of course temperatures descend as altitude increases. Mind you the cold has a dry feel to it and not by far as humid as In Belgium.
Spring is undoubtedly the most pleasant season to visit Georgia. On the other hand, for mountain hikes, summer and early fall are preferable.

Follow the old Georgian military road to the north and after a 3 hours drive you will reach the beautiful natural setting of Stepantsminda, locally referred to as Kazbeki. This green valley offers views of the majestic Kazbegi mountain (5047m). The region is perfect for nature hikes and abounds with mountain bike trails.
