Travel Documents

  • All Belgian nationals travelling on a Belgian passport (children and babies included) must be in possession of an international e-passport (electronic) containing min. 2 blank pages and valid for 6 months after your return from Israel. You will find the most recent updates on this page

Health

There are no compulsory vaccinations for Israel. Regardless of the length of stay, the following vaccinations are recommended for Israel: vaccination against DTP (diphtheria, tetanus and polio) and vaccination against hepatitis A (infectious jaundice), but the latter only if you are staying in Israel under primitive conditions. the most recent updates can be found on ww.itg.be

Climate

Israel has a desert climate. The best time to travel to Israel is reffered to be from March to November with hardly any precipitation. Rain and cold in the wintery north and heat and drought in the summery south. The temperature during the day is warm to hot, while it may get cold at night.

    • Eretz Israel Museum: This museum traces the history of this young state, as t is often forgotten this country became independent in 1948 and is as such less than 70 years old. Visit this incredible history museum to learn all you need and want to know about Israel.
  • Nazareth
  • Biblical heritage is omnipresent in the city of Maria & Joseph. The old town and its typical narrow alleys are bound to charm you. In the vicinity of Nazareth there are plenty of archaeological sites to visit. We think of Megiddo or Zipppori to name just two!

    • Caesarea: in the north of Israel lies the city of Caesarea. This city built by Herod became the capital of the Romans in Judea. This archaeological site woul dhave been the spot where the Holy Grail was discovered by the Franks at the beginning of the 12th century, but has since gone missing again. The quest of the Holy Grail - from the knights of of King Arthur to Indiana Jones - it has been the most sought-after Christian relic in popular culture.
    • Sepphoris: the ancient city of Sepphoris, known throughout Palestine as the "jewel of the Galilee", was a city on Jesus' trail.
  • Jerusalem
  • Jerusalem is considered by many to be the holiest city on earth. This site of major importance for the three largest religions has an incredible number of sacred monuments in which one feels an incredible spiritual energy.

    • Wailing Wall: a Mecca of Judaism and an important place of meditation and prayer, the Wailing Wall is the part of the original vestige of the remparts of the second Jewish Temple.

  • Bethlehem
  • Located round 10 km south of Jerusalem, Bethlehem is an important Jewish and Christian religious centre. It was the birthplace of important religious figures like David King of Israel and Jesus of Nazareth.

    • The Basilica of the Nativity: built on what is presumed to be the birth place of Jesus, it is one of the oldest churches in the world.
