The ancient Way of the Patriarchs has run North-South through Israel for hundreds of years. According to biblical tradition, this route was frequently taken by Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. This route follows the crest of two mountain ranges connecting Hebron to Jerusalem and offers fascinating views.

Day 1 - Brussels > Tel Aviv

Board your flight to Tel Aviv and pick up your rental car. Head to the city that never sleeps and take advantage of this first day to taste the delightful local cuisine and acquaint yourself with the Bauhaus architecture so peculiar to this city.

Day 2 - Tel Aviv > Nazareth (115 km)

After a stroll through the souk, the one of Jaffa for instance, you follow the coast towards Nazareth. You will come across one of the greatest Roman remains along your route, Caesarea, the royal capital of Herod I. Make sure you take the time to visit the amphitheatre and racetrack. Have you always dreamed of scuba diving in an archaeological site? This is one of the few places in the world where you can immerse yourself in waters hiding 2000 year old ruins. Then continue the road to Nazareth.

Day 3 - Nazareth

Nazareth is the starting point of the famous route 60! Biblical heritage is omnipresent in the city of Marie & Joseph. The old town and its typical tiny alleys ooze with charm. The vicinity of Nazareth is dotted with numerous archaeological sites such as Megiddo or Zipppori!

Day 4 & 5 - Nazareth > Jerusalem (185 km)

Today you reach the quintessential Holy City and cradle of eons of history and events. With two days to spend here, you have the opportunity to see a large part of Jerusalems must-sees: The old city, its 8 gates and 4 districts. You can also visit the Israel Museum which is simply breath-taking for its archaeology section, its collection of modern art and ethnography for enthusiasts. The gastronomy is finger licking good, your taste buds will be thrilled!

Day 6 - Jerusalem > Bethehem > Beersheba (112 km)

After a fascinating 48 hours in the Holy site, you head towards another absolute highlight. Bethlehem is your first stop of the day. After only 8 km of road, you will visit the Basilica of the Nativity, the second holiest place for Christians all over the world after Jerusalem. Continue to Hebron. Its old city and the Tomb of the Patriarchs are worth the detour. Your end destination today is Beersheba, the final stop along highway 60.

Day 7 - Beersheba > Tel Aviv > Brussel

Your epic journey is coming to an end. Time to drive back to Tel Aviv and drop off your rental car at the airport in time for your return flight to Brussels.

Climate

Israel has a desert climate. The best time to travel to Israel is reffered to be from March to November with hardly any precipitation. Rain and cold in the wintery north and heat and drought in the summery south. The temperature during the day is warm to hot, while it may get cold at night.
