Italy, the land of hedonists, has a rich football history. With Juventus as a proud exponent. In Turin you will not only discover its many exciting sights, the top attraction is undoubtedly Ronaldo. But even in cities like Milan, Rome and Firenze you get top football. The Serie A may be best known for its tactical ingenuity, which does not mean that there is no atmosphere and goal getting. Dennis Praet, Radja Nainggolanen Kevin Mirallas are just a few Belgians who showcase their talents at the highest level. Pick a contest and do not forget to explore the city centre.

SCC NAPOLI

SSC Napoli is of course the team Dries Mertens plays at; perhaps the smallest, great Belgian football player of the moment. Previously the club was home to the legend Diego Maradona, who procured it with two titles all by himself. Financial problems were a bit of a spanner in the works, but in the meantime the club is back and competing every year for the title. Dries Mertens is extremely loved among the Neapolitans. He shares the turf with stars like Lorenzo Insigne, Hamsik and Koulibaly. Along the lines coaching you will find the living legend Carlo Ancelotti. A cute detail; The mascotte of Forza Napoli is a donkey.

The hot-tempered fans join in the Stadio San Paolo, the third largest stadium in the country, to attend the SSC Napoli home matches. Over 60,000 people can be seated here. There is no doubt that Naples itself is worth a visit when you decide to attend a football match. It oozes with captivating southern Italy charm. See Naples and die is not an expression out of the blue. The city is one massive open-air museum. Get ready for a thrilling city trip filled with passion and zest for life!

AC MILAN

The glorious AC Milan of Marco Van Basten and Ruud Gullit is no more hélas yet the club still goes strong in the upper part of the serie A rankings. True, in recent years the club has sagged a little but that never dampened the cheerful ambiance that reverberates in the San Siro stadium which they share with rival Inter Milan. AC Milan is still one of the most successful soccer clubs in Italy, winning the Champions League countless times. With Pepe Reina in the goal and the likes of Piatek, Suso and Romagnoli competing by his side, there is more than enough quality on the turf at the Rossoneri. Attending a spectacular game in this legendary and atmospheric stadium is never ever out of their league.

As a city, Milan has made itself worldwide fame as well. The city is the beating heart of the Italian fashion industry. Its Dom or cathedral is overwhelming in more than just its size and the Milanese dishes are delightfully tasty with the ossobuco as milestone of Milanese food tradition.

INTER MILAN

Inter and AC Milan are two eternal rivals, that is a given. This season Radja Nainggolan transferred from AS Roma to Inter Milan. Although the club has had fewer successes than AC, the team has been competing for years at the top of the Serie A. Internazionale has won the Champions League three times, the last time back in 2010 when it beat Bayern Munich 2-0. Inter Milan is by the way the only Italian football club never to have been relegated from the top flight. Besides Radja Nainggolan you can also admire Ivan Perisic, Mauro Icardi and Keita Baldé on the Italian turf. A city derby between the two arch rivals of Milan is a truly unique experience that is not to be missed, though you may have a very hard time finding tickets as they are bound to be scarce.

FIORENTINA

ACF Fiorentina may not all be glitter and glory, the club has always proved itself for many years as a worthy Serie A player. And even if their results are fading a little, their sleek shirts stand out every season again! Home turf is the Stadio Artemio Franchi in fabulous Firenze. Temperatures in this swirling stadium filled to the brim with passionate Italians can be sweltering. Fiorentina, widely known by the nickname La Viola, a reference to their purple outfits, also has a Belgian Red Devil in their midst: ex-Everton player Kevin Mirallas. However the big shot of the club is without any doubt Federico Chiesa, a striker and cool drink of water to road-weary eyes.

A city trip to Florence? That is a whole chunk of culture, culinary indulgences and food for romantics. The renaissance city par excellence is a pleasure to the eye. A getaway trip to the heart of Tuscany will by definition always be too short to take in all the beauty Florence or Firenze has in store. You have no idea!

JUVENTUS

Juventus, nicknamed the 'Old Lady', is a top club, no more, no less. Especially now that Cristiano Ronaldo has joined this countless Champions League Final contester. Maybe, in the presence of this Portuguese price gunner, five-time Ballon d’Or winner, 4x winner of the European golden Shoe and 7x top scorer in the Champion’s league, they will finally write their name on this coveted cup. A habit of collecting such accolades doesn't simply abandon a player overnight. And he has by now adapted well to Italian football. Italy is an all-time player in the run-up to the title. Even now that the charismatic Gianluigi Buffon no longer guards the back of the net, the club still boasts stars. Chiellini, Dybala, Cuadrado and Mandzukic are just a few names. You will not know where to look first. And that is the fate of all 41,000 spectators who attend a match at the beautiful Allianz Stadium, where legends were born.

Juventus is one reason to pay a visit to Turin, but the city itself is also a gem. This pearl of the north at the foot of the Alps is bound to pleasantly surprise you. Perfect soil for cultural buffs and the culinary foodie in search for added values.

LAZIO ROMA

While rival AS Roma is the club of the working classes, Lazio has always been a bastion of the richer Roman. Together they share the Stadio Olimpico for home field matches. The Roman derby is the major match of the season. Cutting edge competition, cross our hearts. Though it could be said the two teams level each other performances. No wonder they rank very closely to each other in Serie A.

Left back is played by Jordan Lukaku, the younger brother of Romelu Lukaku. If fit, he is a fixed value on the flank. Well-known players are Milinkovic-Savic, Marusic and Immobile. Silvio Proto often follows the matches from the bench as a backup goalkeeper. A feat considering he is 35 years old.

If you are in Rome to attend a match, be sure to make some time for a city exploration. The Vatican, the Colosseum and / or the Trevi Fountain are just some of the main highlights of this captivating city. Mingle with the crowds. In Rome do as Romans do, remember?

AS ROMA

AS Roma is a concept. Until last year’s imminent transfer, Radja Nainggolan made the beautiful weather here. Francesco Totti, well he is a living legend, what can we say? AS Roma is proud to be the people’s club and fights furious duels with fellow citizen Roma Lazio. You may want to steer clear of the ultras on the Curva Sud, although they do create an oppressive atmosphere. They turn the Stadio Olimpico into a real cauldron. The chances to win the title are very bleak this year. This being said, the giallorossi are a deserving mid-engine in the Serie A. In the current selection Dzeko, Zaniolo and De Rossi are the big shots. Emerging talent Justin Kluivert is well on his way to follow in the footsteps of his famous father
