Today our cell and smart phones have nearly become an extension of our bodies, day or night. Apps keep us entertained around the clock. Yet rather than wasting time the app often proofs to be very helpful and convenient for travellers. These three apps make travel just a little easier and the anticipation of the trip even more exciting …

Outdooractive

Outdooractive is perfect for true sports enthusiasts. With this app you will have access to thousands of walking and cycling trails in Europe. And that's not all: you will also be informed about the surface type you walk or cycle on, the elevation and points of interest along the route. A nice feature: you can record your own tours. Outdooractive is free and available for iOS and Android.

Tripnary

Have you ever had a date via Tinder and found out it was not what you wanted? With Tripnary you do not need to fear the travel blues as you will know exactly what to expect. Beach, culture or nature? Tripnary works similarly to Tinder. You slide pictures to the left (not wanted) or to the right (nice). As such the app filters your potential and future travel destinations worldwide. Photos you like end up automatically on your bucket list. You can even store maps and hot spots of these favourite destinations so you have everything at hand by the time you organise your travel and leave. Available for free for iOS.

Word Lens

Driving abroad is often easy enough. Reading and understanding local traffic signs however may turn out to be a royal pain. Wish you knew what the big yellow sign was all about? Word Lens keeps you on the right track and makes sure you do not end up where you should not. It's very simple: make a picture of the traffic sign and Word lens will translate it to your native tongue. And that goes for all information you come across along your route. Smart, isn't it. Word Lens is available for free for Android and iOS.
