Important Information

On the departure of 12/07/2026 the return flight is in the morning and lands the same day in Brussels, reducing the trip to 14 days instead of 15.

Travel Documents

Climate

Tropical climate. Colombo and the coast have average temperatures of 27 °, 20 ° Kandy, Nuwara Eliya 16 °. Cooler in the central, higher areas. The southwest monsoon occurs between May and September, the northern and eastern monsoon between October and January.

Hotels & Meals

Dishes include rice and curry, pittu, Kiribath, wholemeal Roti, String hoppers, wattalapam (a rich pudding of Malay origin made of coconut milk, jaggery, cashew nuts, eggs, and spices including cinnamon and nutmeg), kottu, and hoppers. Jackfruit may sometimes replace rice and curries. Traditionally food is served on a plantain leaf.

Middle Eastern influences and practices are found in traditional Moor dishes, while Dutch and Portuguese influences are found with the island's Burgher community preserving their culture through traditional dishes such as Lamprais (rice cooked in stock and baked in a banana leaf), Breudher (Dutch Holiday Biscuit), Bolo Fiado (Portuguese-style layer cake), and Gumbo Lillas (Dutch style honey coated sweet treats).
