Whale watching on the St. Lawrence River

Canada

Canada is already a magical country and a unique experience, but whale watching takes it up another notch. An encounter with the giants of the sea is a must.

In search of the giants of the sea

The St. Lawrence River is a playground for whales, and you will spot them in abundance here. No wonder, as the river is a true buffet for whales: they find more than enough food here and love to linger. The perfect chance to head out in a Zodiac and see these animals up close.

In groups of 12 you board the Zodiac and set off to spot the larger whale species. Around 11 species can be seen here. Dressed in a waterproof outfit, you go in search of the whales, which you can often approach to within a few metres, while an expert guide tells you all about them. If you feel more comfortable on a boat, that is possible too: many operators offer whale watching. Nowhere in the world are your chances of spotting whales greater, that much is certain. Don't forget your smartphone and perhaps binoculars for an unforgettable trip.

"I have been fascinated by whales ever since I was a child. The trip on the St. Lawrence River made my childhood dream come true. Seeing these giants so close up honestly made me emotional."
