Climate

Iceland's country name gives the impression temperatures circle around zero or feel ice-cold year-round. Obviously this is not a reality. Considering its nearby arctic location temperatures are actually quite temperate. Part of the answer why is the fact Iceland benefits from the warm sea current which is a result of the nearby Atlantic Gulf Stream. This relatively warm seawater shields Iceland especially during the winter season from extreme coldness. Though winters are undeniably on the cool side ; summer temperatures can be very comfortable. The water does not only fall under the shape of rain either. Due to the island's predominant volcanic activity geysers spray up their boiling waters. A phenomenon that contributes to the natural beauty of the island.
