Travel Documents
All Belgian nationals travelling on a Belgian passport (children and babies included) must be in possession of an international e-passport (electronic) containing min. 2 blank pages, valid for at least 1 day after their return home. All travellers to Canada must purchase an eTA or electronic Travel Authorisation online via the official website cic.gc.ca/english/visit/index.asp prior to entering Canadian territory via its airports. Price: 7 CAD or +/- 5 Euros. Your eTA is valid for 5 years and linked to your passport number. This implies that as soon as your passport expires, so does your eTA.
To save time at Customs and Immigration in Canada, you can download the CanBorder eDeclaration app before your arrival. You will then receive a QR-code that remains valid for 24 hours. Thanks to the scanning of the QR code, you do not have to re-enter your data on the screen at the Customs counters. You can download via the Apple Store app or Google Play app.
Please note: A credit card is required upon check-in at the hotels and also when renting a car. All cross-border travellers with the USA must on top be in possession of an international passport and an ESTA. The digital passport must be valid for at least 6 months after the set date of your return flight. The electronic travel authorization must be purchased online by means of a personal credit card via the official link https://esta.cbp.dhs.gov/esta/ (14 USD on 20JAN2015). Your ESTA is valid for max. 2 years. Should your international passport expire within that period, so does your ESTA as it is linked to your passport number. We strongly recommend you to print out the Esta- or Eta permit and to have it on you while you travel to avoid problems.
Travellers with a non-Belgian nationality and / or travellers travelling on a foreign passport are invited to spontaneously report this matter to the Connections travel consultant and shall contact their respective embassy (s) or Consulate (ate) to obtain the latest updates concerning all current travel requirements and documents.

Climate
The climate is comparable to ours. In spring, days are nice and nights are fresh. In summer temperatures can reach peaks, especially in the East. In the West, there is more chance of precipitation and it is cooler than in the East. On the coast and around the lakes it is usually a lot cooler.
Discover the charm of Eastern Canada
Eastern Canada has a unique appeal found nowhere else. The perfect blend of European influences and North American lifestyle makes Quebec a fascinating destination. On your journey through this province, you’ll experience the special atmosphere of French-speaking Canada, where historic architecture, quaint streets, and a rich cultural heritage come together. In Montréal, you’ll enjoy the cosmopolitan vibe, while Québec City—with its fortified Old Town, the only one of its kind in North America—transports you back in time. The combination of urban charm and breathtaking natural beauty makes a tour through Eastern Canada a truly diverse experience.
Whale watching in Tadoussac
Tadoussac is undoubtedly one of the best places in the world to observe whales. At the confluence of the Saguenay Fjord and the Saint Lawrence River, a unique ecosystem forms where cold and warm currents meet. These conditions create a rich supply of plankton, attracting large marine mammals. From June to October, you can spot up to 13 different whale species here, including blue whales, humpbacks, and the iconic white belugas. From the charming harbor of Tadoussac, boat excursions let you witness this spectacular natural event. Experienced guides know exactly where to find these majestic creatures, giving you an excellent chance of unforgettable encounters.
Exploring Quebec’s national parks
Quebec is blessed with an impressive collection of national parks that enchant nature lovers. Saguenay Fjord National Park offers dramatic views over the deep-blue fjord, framed by towering cliffs up to 350 meters high. At Forillon National Park, located at the tip of the Gaspé Peninsula, you’ll find a unique blend of mountains, cliffs, and beaches where seals and seabirds are common companions. For an authentic wilderness experience, La Mauricie National Park awaits with its crystal-clear lakes and dense forests, home to moose and black bears. These protected natural areas are a perfect addition to your Quebec itinerary, offering countless opportunities for hiking, kayaking, and wildlife watching in stunning surroundings.
Best time to travel to Quebec
The ideal time for your Quebec trip depends on what you’d like to experience. Summer (June to August) brings pleasant temperatures between 20°C and 25°C, perfect for city walks and outdoor activities. It’s also whale season in Tadoussac. In September and October, the landscape bursts into vibrant colors during the “Indian Summer,” when vast forests turn fiery red, orange, and golden yellow—an absolute highlight for photographers. Winter (December to March) transforms Quebec into a magical snowy wonderland with temperatures dropping to -20°C, perfect for winter sports and the famous Quebec Winter Carnival. Spring (April–May) brings milder weather and fewer tourists, but keep in mind the “mud season” when melting snow makes some natural areas less accessible.
Accommodation in Quebec
During your Quebec tour, you’ll stay in a wide variety of accommodations that complete your Canadian experience. In cities such as Montréal and Québec City, you can choose from charming boutique hotels housed in historic buildings, often featuring stone walls and wooden beams. Typical “auberges” are small-scale guesthouses known for their personal service and excellent cuisine with local specialties. In nature areas, you’ll find comfortable lodges seamlessly integrated into their surroundings. A unique option is staying in an authentic Canadian chalet by a lake or in the forest, where you can fully unwind between daily adventures. Overall, accommodation standards are high, with all the modern comforts you’d expect from a quality tour.
