Travel Documents
All Belgian nationals travelling on a Belgian passport (children and babies included) must be in possession of an international e-passport (electronic) containing min. 2 blank pages, valid for at least 1 day after their return home. All travellers to Canada must purchase an eTA or electronic Travel Authorisation online via the official website cic.gc.ca/english/visit/index.asp prior to entering Canadian territory via its airports. Price: 7 CAD or +/- 5 Euros. Your eTA is valid for 5 years and linked to your passport number. This implies that as soon as your passport expires, so does your eTA.
To save time at Customs and Immigration in Canada, you can download the CanBorder eDeclaration app before your arrival. You will then receive a QR-code that remains valid for 24 hours. Thanks to the scanning of the QR code, you do not have to re-enter your data on the screen at the Customs counters. You can download via the Apple Store app or Google Play app.
Please note: A credit card is required upon check-in at the hotels and also when renting a car. All cross-border travellers with the USA must on top be in possession of an international passport and an ESTA. The digital passport must be valid for at least 6 months after the set date of your return flight. The electronic travel authorization must be purchased online by means of a personal credit card via the official link https://esta.cbp.dhs.gov/esta/ (14 USD on 20JAN2015). Your ESTA is valid for max. 2 years. Should your international passport expire within that period, so does your ESTA as it is linked to your passport number. We strongly recommend you to print out the Esta- or Eta permit and to have it on you while you travel to avoid problems.
Travellers with a non-Belgian nationality and / or travellers travelling on a foreign passport are invited to spontaneously report this matter to the Connections travel consultant and shall contact their respective embassy (s) or Consulate (ate) to obtain the latest updates concerning all current travel requirements and documents.

Highlights of Eastern Canada on Your Tour
During the Eastern Explorer, you’ll discover the absolute highlights of Eastern Canada. The journey takes you through the provinces of Ontario and Québec, where French and English influences create a fascinating cultural mix. In Toronto, the bustling metropolis, you’ll experience a multicultural melting pot with iconic landmarks such as the CN Tower. The contrast with historic Quebec City, where you can stroll through centuries-old streets surrounded by fortifications, couldn’t be greater. The natural beauty of Niagara Falls and Algonquin Provincial Park perfectly complements the urban experiences, allowing you to witness the power of water and the serene calm of Canadian forests.
Wildlife Spotting in Ontario’s Nature Parks
Ontario’s nature offers unparalleled opportunities for wildlife spotting during your Eastern Canada tour. In the vast Algonquin Provincial Park, you have a good chance of observing moose, beavers, and black bears in their natural habitat. This oldest provincial park in Canada, with over 2,500 lakes and rivers, is a sanctuary for countless species. Early morning or late afternoon are the best times for spotting wildlife. Experienced nature guides point out subtle tracks and animal behaviors. Birdwatchers will find a paradise here with more than 250 bird species, including the majestic bald eagle and the mysterious common loon.
Combining Quebec City and Montreal on Your Eastern Canada Tour
Visiting both Québec City and Montréal during your Eastern Canada tour offers a perfect balance between historic charm and cosmopolitan energy. In Québec City, North America’s only walled city, you can wander through steep, narrow streets that transport you straight to the Europe of the past. French colonial architecture, cozy bistros, and the impressive Château Frontenac create a unique setting. Montréal, on the other hand, surprises with its vibrant art scene, internationally renowned festivals, and innovative culinary landscape. The underground city provides shelter during cold winters, while in summer you can enjoy lively terraces and parks. The French-speaking influence in both cities creates an unmistakable European atmosphere in the heart of Canada.
Whale Watching in Tadoussac and the St. Lawrence River
Although not included in the standard Eastern Explorer program, the optional whale-watching tour from Tadoussac is highly recommended for nature lovers. This picturesque bay, where the Saguenay and St. Lawrence rivers meet, creates a unique marine environment that attracts whales. Here, you have the chance to spot up to thirteen whale species, including blue whales, humpbacks, minke whales, and belugas. The cold, nutrient-rich waters of the St. Lawrence provide an ideal feeding ground for these majestic marine mammals. The experience of a whale surfacing right next to your boat is truly unforgettable. Local experts guide the excursions and share fascinating insights about the behavior, migration, and importance of these sea mammals in Eastern Canada’s marine ecosystem.
Best Time to Travel for Your Eastern Canada Tour
The best time for your Eastern Explorer tour in Eastern Canada is from May to October. The summer months, June to August, offer pleasant temperatures between 20°C and 30°C, perfect for city walks and nature exploration. During this period, all attractions and activities are fully operational. Nature enthusiasts often choose September, when the famous ‘Indian Summer’ transforms the forests of Ontario and Québec into a spectacular palette of red, orange, and gold. May and October are ideal for those looking to avoid crowds and benefit from lower prices, although some seasonal activities may be limited. Keep in mind Canada Day on July 1st and Thanksgiving in October, when popular destinations can be busier.
