The mosaic tiled palaces here are simply phenomenal. Make sure you visit the Kalon Minaret in Bukhara. This imposing building was built in 1127 to call on Muslims to pray.
Tashkent is the perfect location for a more modern city break. You are sure to notice that the fabric used in the traditional costumes of the local population is predominently silk. No wonder, Uzbekistan is an important producer of handmade silk.
