Travel Documents
All Belgian nationals travelling on a Belgian passport (children and babies included) must be in possession of an international e-passport (electronic) containing min. 2 blank pages, valid for at least 1 day after their return home. All travellers to Canada must purchase an eTA or electronic Travel Authorisation online via the official website cic.gc.ca/english/visit/index.asp prior to entering Canadian territory via its airports. Price: 7 CAD or +/- 5 Euros. Your eTA is valid for 5 years and linked to your passport number. This implies that as soon as your passport expires, so does your eTA.
To save time at Customs and Immigration in Canada, you can download the CanBorder eDeclaration app before your arrival. You will then receive a QR-code that remains valid for 24 hours. Thanks to the scanning of the QR code, you do not have to re-enter your data on the screen at the Customs counters. You can download via the Apple Store app or Google Play app.
Please note: A credit card is required upon check-in at the hotels and also when renting a car. All cross-border travellers with the USA must on top be in possession of an international passport and an ESTA. The digital passport must be valid for at least 6 months after the set date of your return flight. The electronic travel authorization must be purchased online by means of a personal credit card via the official link https://esta.cbp.dhs.gov/esta/ (14 USD on 20JAN2015). Your ESTA is valid for max. 2 years. Should your international passport expire within that period, so does your ESTA as it is linked to your passport number. We strongly recommend you to print out the Esta- or Eta permit and to have it on you while you travel to avoid problems.
Travellers with a non-Belgian nationality and / or travellers travelling on a foreign passport are invited to spontaneously report this matter to the Connections travel consultant and shall contact their respective embassy (s) or Consulate (ate) to obtain the latest updates concerning all current travel requirements and documents.

Western Canada tours for nature lovers
Western Canada is a paradise for those who love unspoiled nature and breathtaking landscapes. On this tour through the national parks, you’ll discover the most spectacular sights of British Columbia and Alberta. The Canadian Rockies stretch majestically, providing an impressive backdrop for your journey. In Banff National Park, enjoy the turquoise waters of Lake Louise, while Jasper National Park is famous for its vast wilderness and abundant wildlife. The chance to spot black bears, elk, and other wild animals makes your Western Canada trip unforgettable. The combination of nature, adventure, and relaxation makes this tour perfect for families, couples, and solo travelers.
Exploring Whistler and Revelstoke
A visit to Whistler is a must on your Western Canada tour. This famous resort is popular for skiing in winter but offers many summer activities as well: hikes through alpine meadows, mountain biking on challenging trails, or simply relaxing in the lively village center. Revelstoke is another gem to discover. This charming town, located on the Columbia River, is the perfect base for exploring nearby Glacier National Park. The Meadows in the Sky Parkway offers spectacular views of the surrounding mountains. Together, these two destinations provide a varied travel experience, balancing adventure and relaxation.
Banff and Jasper National Park highlights
Banff and Jasper National Parks are absolute highlights of Western Canada. Banff, Canada’s oldest national park, welcomes you with iconic landscapes like Lake Louise and Moraine Lake. Take time to drive the Icefields Parkway, one of the world’s most scenic routes connecting Banff and Jasper. Along the way, you’ll pass glaciers, waterfalls, and the famous blue Peyto Lake. In Jasper, Maligne Lake awaits with boat trips to Spirit Island. The Columbia Icefield offers the unique experience of riding a snowcoach on a glacier. While visiting these parks, enjoy numerous hiking trails, wildlife spotting, and relaxing hot springs—perfect after a day of adventure.
Combine Vancouver Island with your Western Canada tour
Although this tour mainly focuses on the mainland, you can expand your adventure to Vancouver Island. This green oasis off the coast of British Columbia offers a completely different travel experience. In Victoria, the charming capital, enjoy British influences and the beautiful Butchart Gardens. The island’s west coast is known for the rugged Pacific Rim National Park, where you can hike along pristine beaches or spot whales. The temperate rainforest contrasts with the mountain landscapes of the Rockies discovered during the rest of your trip. Our travel designers can advise on adding Vancouver Island to your itinerary for an even fuller experience of Western Canada’s natural diversity.
Best time to visit the Canadian Rockies & tips
The best time to visit the Canadian Rockies is from June to September, when days are long and warm, and most hiking trails are accessible. In July and August, temperatures are comfortable at 20–25°C, ideal for outdoor activities. September brings stunning autumn colors and fewer crowds. For wildlife spotting, early morning and late afternoon are most effective. Don’t forget to pack warm clothing, even in summer, as mountain evenings can be chilly. Binoculars and sturdy hiking shoes are essential. Popular sites like Lake Louise and Moraine Lake can be very busy during high season, so plan early visits.
Wells Gray Provincial Park: a hidden gem
On your tour, discover Wells Gray Provincial Park, a relatively unknown but stunning destination. This vast wilderness is famous for its impressive waterfalls, including Helmcken Falls, which at 141 meters is among Canada’s most spectacular. The park offers excellent opportunities for hiking, canoeing on crystal-clear lakes, and wildlife spotting. Unlike the more famous national parks, Wells Gray is less crowded, allowing you to fully enjoy nature. Lush rainforests, alpine meadows, and volcanic landscapes create a diverse ecosystem home to bears, elk, and many bird species. This hidden treasure in the heart of British Columbia adds a unique dimension to your Western Canada adventure.
