Travel Documents

• All Belgian nationals travelling on a Belgian passport (children and babies included) must be in possession of an international e-passport (electronic) containing min. 2 blank pages and valid for 30 days after your departure from South Africa. All persons entering South Africa, with minors (-18 years) will be required to carry an unabridged birth certificate for each child with affidavit attached and stamped by the South African Embassy or consulate. A certified copy is also accepted. The date of issue of these documents may not exceed 3 months. These measures also apply in case you transit through South Africa.

• For Zimbabwe and Botswana, your passport must be valid for 6 months after return. In Zimbabwe a visa is required. (30US$ - single entry - 15/08/2018 - subject to modification). Please verify the opening hours of the border posts.

• Travelers with a non-Belgian nationality and / or travelers travelling on a foreign passport are invited to spontaneously report this matter to the Connections travel consultant and shall contact their respective embassy (s) or Consulate (ate) to obtain the latest updates concerning all current travel requirements and documents.

In Botswana, both USDollars and Euros are accepted. You receive all change in Pula (BWP, the local currency).

Climate

Located in the Tropic of Capricorn, the country has a relatively temperate climate. Summers, which runs from November to March, corresponds to the rainy season and the humidity and heat can be high while floods can make some roads impassable. In the Kalahari Desert, on the other hand, precipitation is low.

Winter, from May to October, corresponds to the dry season. It is the best time of the year to visit Botswana and observe wildlife. The days are sunny and softer. In June-July, average temperatures are 21-25 ° C during the day and nights are coolish, even cold between June and August. It may freeze in Gaborone and in the Kalahari desert. A disadvantage: nightfall sets in at 5 pm.
