Travel Documents
All Belgian nationals travelling on a Belgian passport (children and babies included) must be in possession of an international e-passport (electronic) containing min. 2 blank pages, valid for at least 1 day after their return home. All travellers to Canada must purchase an eTA or electronic Travel Authorisation online via the official website cic.gc.ca/english/visit/index.asp prior to entering Canadian territory via its airports. Price: 7 CAD or +/- 5 Euros. Your eTA is valid for 5 years and linked to your passport number. This implies that as soon as your passport expires, so does your eTA.
To save time at Customs and Immigration in Canada, you can download the CanBorder eDeclaration app before your arrival. You will then receive a QR-code that remains valid for 24 hours. Thanks to the scanning of the QR code, you do not have to re-enter your data on the screen at the Customs counters. You can download via the Apple Store app or Google Play app.
Please note: A credit card is required upon check-in at the hotels and also when renting a car. All cross-border travellers with the USA must on top be in possession of an international passport and an ESTA. The digital passport must be valid for at least 6 months after the set date of your return flight. The electronic travel authorization must be purchased online by means of a personal credit card via the official link https://esta.cbp.dhs.gov/esta/ (14 USD on 20JAN2015). Your ESTA is valid for max. 2 years. Should your international passport expire within that period, so does your ESTA as it is linked to your passport number. We strongly recommend you to print out the Esta- or Eta permit and to have it on you while you travel to avoid problems.
Travellers with a non-Belgian nationality and / or travellers travelling on a foreign passport are invited to spontaneously report this matter to the Connections travel consultant and shall contact their respective embassy (s) or Consulate (ate) to obtain the latest updates concerning all current travel requirements and documents.

Discover the National Parks of Vancouver Island
Vancouver Island is home to some of Canada’s most impressive national parks. During your kayaking trip, you’ll visit Pacific Rim National Park, where rugged coastlines, lush rainforests, and endless beaches meet. In the heart of the island lies Strathcona Provincial Park, British Columbia’s oldest provincial park, with majestic mountains, crystal-clear lakes, and rich biodiversity. These parks offer excellent opportunities for nature lovers, with well-maintained hiking trails, campsites, and visitor centers where you can learn more about the unique ecosystems that make Vancouver Island so special.
Whale Watching on Your Kayak Adventure
The waters around Vancouver Island are a paradise for whale enthusiasts. During your kayak trip through Johnstone Strait, you have a high chance of spotting orcas, which come to hunt salmon in the summer months. These majestic marine mammals, also known as killer whales, live in social family groups you can observe from your kayak. In addition to orcas, you may encounter humpback whales, gray whales, sea lions, and dolphins. The guides know the best locations and times to spot these marine mammals. An unforgettable moment is when a whale surfaces right next to your kayak—a memory that will last forever.
Accommodations During Your Vancouver Island Trip
During your trip, you’ll stay in carefully selected accommodations that match the character of your journey. From comfortable standard hotels in Vancouver to charming lodges on Quadra Island, each lodging offers its own unique atmosphere. Especially memorable is your stay in Telegraph Cove, a historic fishing village with colorful houses perched on stilts above the water. In Ucluelet and Tofino, on the island’s west coast, you’ll stay in accommodations with stunning views of the Pacific Ocean. The hotels are strategically located for easy access to Vancouver Island’s natural highlights while enjoying Canadian hospitality in the evening.
Sightseeing in Vancouver During Your Trip
Your journey begins and ends in Vancouver, a vibrant metropolis surrounded by breathtaking nature. Visit Stanley Park, a green oasis with centuries-old trees, the famous seawall, and First Nations cultural heritage. Gastown invites a stroll through historic buildings, trendy restaurants, and cozy cafés. From Granville Island, with its lively market and artist studios, you have a beautiful view of the skyline. For a panoramic view of the city, take the cable car to Grouse Mountain. Don’t forget the iconic Capilano Suspension Bridge, where you walk 70 meters above a deep gorge among majestic pine trees.

Discover Quebec’s Francophone Culture
Quebec stands out from the rest of Canada with its vibrant Francophone culture. During your trip through this unique province, you’ll be immersed in a world that feels European but is truly North American. In Quebec City, stroll through the narrow streets of Old Quebec, surrounded by historic buildings and charming squares where street musicians play French chansons. Sample local specialties like poutine, tourtière, and maple taffy in authentic bistros. Locals take pride in their cultural heritage and enjoy sharing stories of their history and traditions. This cultural immersion makes your Quebec trip more than just a sightseeing experience.
Experience the Seasons on Your Quebec Trip
Quebec has four distinct seasons, each offering its own charm. In spring, nature awakens with fresh green forests and colorful flowers, with pleasant temperatures and fewer tourists. Summer is perfect for outdoor activities, with warm days ideal for kayaking, hiking, or relaxing by a lake. Autumn transforms Quebec into a spectacular palette of red, orange, and yellow, a paradise for photographers. In winter, Quebec turns into a magical winter wonderland, perfect for skiing, snowboarding, or a romantic sleigh ride through snowy landscapes. Each season provides a completely different experience of the same sights, making Quebec a fascinating destination year-round.
Culinary Discoveries in Quebec
A Quebec trip is also a culinary journey. The province is known for its rich gastronomic traditions, blending French influences with local ingredients and North American innovation. In Montreal, taste the world-famous bagels and smoked meats at iconic delis like Schwartz’s. Quebec City delights with traditional dishes in cozy restaurants in the old town. Don’t forget to stop at sugar shacks along the way to taste maple syrup made in the traditional way. The Charlevoix region is known for its cheesemakers and craft breweries. Along the Saint Lawrence, enjoy fresh seafood, while the hinterland offers game and wild berries. This culinary richness makes your Quebec trip a feast for all the senses.
Adventure Activities During Your Quebec Trip
For adventure seekers, this Quebec trip offers countless opportunities to push your limits. In the Charlevoix region, take spectacular hikes along the Saint Lawrence cliffs with breathtaking river views. Saguenay National Park invites kayaking adventures between fjords, where you might spot belugas and other whale species. In Mauricie, canoe on crystal-clear lakes surrounded by lush forests inhabited by moose and black bears. For a unique experience, stay in a remote cabin accessible by canoe or hiking. The Laurentians offer mountain biking trails for all levels, while in winter, you can enjoy snowshoeing or ice fishing. This mix of activities makes your Quebec road trip an unforgettable adventure.
