Texas Tour
Let's Texas!

13 days – including accommodation and roadbook

From a thrilling rodeo ride and slipping into cowboy boots to staying at a real ranch – you’ll experience it all. In Texas, adventure never ends. This state is an unforgettable blend of history, excitement, and modern flair. A destination you must discover to truly capture the American spirit.

For two weeks, put on your toughest boots and immerse yourself in the real United States. The Wild West is alive and well here, where you’ll often feel like you’ve stepped into a Western movie: wild horses being tamed, herds of cattle passing by, and true cowboys keeping it all in line.

But Texas is more than rugged life alone. Explore forward-thinking cities like Dallas, San Antonio, and Austin – where history intertwines with rapid progress. Visit the futuristic NASA Space Center, dive into Austin’s buzzing live music scene, and soak up the unique vibe.

Texas is waiting. So long, stranger!

Travel Documents
  • Travel documents: All Belgian nationals* (children and babies included) must be in possession of an international e-passport (biometric) containing min. 2 blank pages, valid at day of entry and during the entire stay. Connections recommends to let common sense prevail and to build in some slack in terms of validity. Often unforeseen circumstances (weather factors, volcanoes, and threats all kinds) are the cause of a mandatory postponed return date. A credit card is required upon check-in at the hotels and also when renting a car. Please keep this in mind. We strongly recommend you to print out the Esta- or Eta permit and to have it on you while you travel to avoid problems.

  • All passengers who travel to and /or via the U.S. must apply for an electronic travel authorization at least 72 hours prior to departure. The ESTA ($ 40) procedure must be requested via the official website link https://esta.cbp.dhs.gov and paid by a personal credit card only.

  • Travellers who have visited Cuba since 12 January 2021 or who wish to travel to Cuba prior to a visit to the United States are not eligible for ESTA and must apply for a US visa at a US Consulate before travelling to the US.

  • Travellers with a non-Belgian nationality and / or travellers travelling on a foreign passport are invited to spontaneously report this matter to the Connections travel consultant and shall contact their respective embassy (s) or Consulate (ate) to obtain the latest updates concerning all current travel requirements and documents. They must apply for an electronic travel authorization at least 72 hours prior to departure via the official website link https://esta.cbp.dhs.gov and pay by a personal credit card only.

Payments methods

A personal credit card is required upon check-in at the hotels and also when renting a car. The most convenient method of payment is by credit card but cash euros and dollars in small amount come in handy. Inform yourself timely, as from January 15, 2015 your Visa and/or MasterCard credit card (and possibly other types of credit cards) has automatically been set to "not for use in the US, for US car rental agencies and during cruises under the American flag".

You must then apply for a release of your credit card. This may be done prior to your arrival in the U.S. (in your bank branch or via the telephone number listed on the back of your credit card or by means of a special form available for PC banking) as well as after arrival in the US (through a withdrawal at an ATM. Please note, in this case there will be a transaction fee charged to your account). The same applies to the Maestro function in your bank card.

The Texas Hill Country

At the heart of Texas lies the enchanting Hill Country, one of the most picturesque regions of your journey. Rolling hills, charming towns like Fredericksburg and New Braunfels, and a colorful sea of wildflowers in spring create a surprising side of Texas. Wine lovers will find over fifty wineries along the Texas Wine Trail. Discover hidden caves, crystal-clear rivers perfect for tubing, and German influences still visible in the architecture and cuisine.

Stay at a Texas Ranch

An authentic ranch stay is an absolute must during your road trip. At welcoming ranches such as Wildcatter Ranch in Graham, you’ll experience real cowboy life. Start your day with a hearty country breakfast before heading out for activities like horseback riding, lasso practice, or fishing. In the evening, enjoy a traditional barbecue under the starry sky while local musicians play country tunes. This unique accommodation offers not just comfort but also an unforgettable glimpse into Texan culture and lifestyle, passed down through generations.

Fly & Drive Through Texas

A fly drive is the best way to explore Texas at your own pace. With more than 680,000 square kilometers of land, you’ll have the freedom to follow iconic routes or discover hidden gems. Drive along the breathtaking Gulf Coast, across the endless prairies of the Panhandle, or through the dramatic canyons in the west. Along the way, stop at authentic roadside diners for a classic Texan burger or at barbecue joints for world-famous smoked brisket. Texas roads are well-maintained and easy to navigate, making driving a true pleasure.

The Vibrant City of San Antonio

San Antonio blends Texan pride with Mexican influences for a unique cultural experience. The heart of the city is the famous River Walk, a scenic network of paths along the San Antonio River lined with colorful restaurants and shops. Visit the iconic Alamo, a key site in Texas’ independence struggle. Don’t miss the historic Pearl District, a former brewery transformed into a trendy food and arts hub. Families can enjoy attractions like Six Flags Fiesta Texas and SeaWorld. By night, the city comes alive with Tejano music in dance halls and authentic Tex-Mex flavors in lively restaurants.

Best Time to Visit Texas

The best seasons for a Texas road trip are spring (March–May) and fall (September–November), with pleasant temperatures between 20–30°C, ideal for outdoor activities and city walks. Spring brings vibrant wildflower blooms, while fall offers mild weather after the summer heat. Summers (June–August) can be extremely hot, especially in West Texas, with temperatures above 35°C. Winters are mild in the south but can be surprisingly cold in the north. Plan your trip around major events such as Austin’s South by Southwest Festival (March) or the State Fair of Texas in Dallas (October).
