Georgetown Walking Tour

Discover the past and present of DC's most charming district

This private walking tour takes you along cobblestone streets with charming 18th- and 19th-century architecture and the historic C&O Canal, which was once a major trade route. Walk through tree-lined avenues and see the city's most famous houses. Here lived illustrious names such as John F and Jackie Kennedy, the inventor Alexander Graham Bell, and Hollywood actress Elizabeth Taylor.

You will see beautifully preserved pre-revolutionary buildings and learn how the African American community flourished after the Civil War. In the aftermath of World War I, Georgetown was considered one of Washington's worst slums.

When a young senator John F. Kennedy lived in the neighborhood in the 1950s, Georgetown was once again the place to be seen. Your guide will talk about the young JFK and show you the tavern where he proposed to Jacqueline Bouvier.

Finally, there is the historic Georgetown university campus that marks the district. You will get a unique view of early American life, combined with a rich cultural offering and the vibrant energy of modern shops, excellent restaurants, and lively nightlife.

Learn the stories behind the great monuments. You will have time at each monument to explore and take photos. During this tour, you will see: the Washington Monument, Jefferson Memorial, F.D. Roosevelt Memorial, Martin Luther King Memorial, WWII Memorial, Korean War Veterans Memorial, Vietnam Veterans Memorial, Lincoln Memorial, Albert Einstein Memorial, and the White House. The tour departs daily and lasts 3 hours.

Mount Vernon bike & boat tour

Explore Old Town Alexandria and bike all the way to the first president's house at George Washington’s Mount Vernon (18 km). Park your bike to visit the 18th-century mansion with beautifully maintained gardens and stables. In the afternoon, leave your bike behind and board a riverboat that will take you back to DC.
