Indonesia

Located in Sud East Asia, along the equator, the largest archipelago in the world, made up of over 17,000 islands, awaits you. Welcome to Indonesia! Here you will literally be thrilled by its majestic volcanoes and eye-soothing green rice fields, its towering temples and age-old, ancestral rituals, its warm hospitality and the rhythm of the gamelan. Add to that the extensive charm of its pearly white beaches and coral seas and your mental postcard is picture-perfect.

Round Trip Through Indonesia

A round trip through Indonesia offers an unparalleled opportunity to experience the diversity of this impressive archipelago. With more than 17,000 islands, Indonesia has something special to offer every traveler. From the bustling streets of Jakarta to the serene rice fields of Bali, each destination tells its own story. During your Indonesia round trip, you will not only discover breathtaking landscapes but also a rich culture that dates back thousands of years. The warmth and friendliness of the local people complete the experience. You can choose a carefully planned itinerary or have your ideal Indonesia round trip created entirely according to your personal wishes and interests.

Java and Bali

The combination of Java and Bali is by far the most popular choice for an Indonesia round trip. Java, the cultural heart of the country, is home to impressive landmarks such as the majestic Borobudur and Prambanan temples near Yogyakarta. The active Bromo volcano offers spectacular views that will stay with you forever. When you continue from Java to Bali, a completely different experience awaits. Bali is known for its spirituality in Ubud, surrounded by lush green rice terraces and countless temples. Bali’s southern coast tempts with white sandy beaches where you can unwind after your cultural discoveries on Java. This combination offers the perfect balance between cultural enrichment and tropical relaxation.

Individual Round Trips

The freedom to travel at your own pace makes individual round trips through Indonesia especially appealing. You are not tied to a rigid group schedule, but can linger in places that truly resonate with you. Whether you wish to spend more time in vibrant Ubud, take extra moments to capture the perfect sunset at Mount Bromo, or add an additional snorkeling trip around the Gili Islands – it’s all possible. Our individual Indonesia round trips are fully customizable and strike the ideal balance between guidance and freedom. With experienced local, Dutch-speaking guides and reliable transportation, you enjoy comfort and security while creating your own unique adventure.

Sumatra

Sumatra, the sixth-largest island in the world, offers a rugged and adventurous experience during your Indonesia round trip. The island is renowned for its rainforests, where you can still spot wild orangutans in their natural habitat. The impressive Lake Toba, formed by a supervolcano, is a must-visit thanks to its breathtaking scenery. In Sumatra’s central highlands, traditional villages provide insight into the unique Batak culture. During the Sumatra Explorer round trip, you will explore Samosir Island and other highlights of Sumatra—an ideal addition to your Indonesia adventure for nature lovers and travelers who enjoy venturing off the beaten path.

Lombok

Lombok offers a refreshing alternative to the busier Bali, with the same tropical beauty but a more relaxed pace. The island is dominated by the impressive Mount Rinjani, where adventurous travelers can embark on an unforgettable trekking experience. The white sandy beaches in the south and around the Gili Islands are among the most beautiful in Indonesia. A Bali and Lombok round trip is the perfect combination: first immerse yourself in Bali’s cultural richness, then unwind on Lombok’s tranquil beaches. The Romantic Bali & Lombok itinerary is specially designed for couples seeking romance amid lush nature, traditional villages and crystal-clear bays ideal for snorkeling.

Sulawesi

The uniquely shaped, orchid-like island of Sulawesi is a hidden gem within the Indonesian archipelago. This fascinating island offers an intriguing mix of adventure, culture and nature. In Tana Toraja, the impressive funeral ceremonies and traditional houses with boat-shaped roofs leave a lasting impression. The underwater world around Sulawesi ranks among the best snorkeling and diving destinations in the world, particularly in Bunaken National Marine Park. Adding Sulawesi to your Indonesia round trip enriches your journey with authentic experiences that have yet to be discovered by mass tourism. Local cultures here have preserved their traditions, offering a rare glimpse into Indonesia’s past.

Flores and Komodo

A round trip to Flores and Komodo combines natural wonders with unique wildlife encounters. Flores surprises with its diverse landscapes, from the tri-colored crater lakes of Kelimutu to traditional villages where handwoven textiles are still produced using centuries-old techniques. The highlight of this region is undoubtedly Komodo National Park, where you can observe the famous Komodo dragons in their natural habitat. These prehistoric-looking reptiles—the largest lizards in the world—exist nowhere else on Earth. During the Flores Overland round trip, you will sail past unspoiled islands with pink beaches and crystal-clear waters, perfect for snorkelers eager to explore vibrant coral reefs in one of the most biodiverse seas in the world.

Best Time to Travel to Indonesia

The best time for your Indonesia round trip largely depends on the islands you wish to visit. Indonesia generally has two seasons: the dry season and the rainy season. For most destinations such as Java, Bali and Lombok, the period from May to September is ideal, offering dry, sunny weather with pleasant temperatures. If you plan to visit Sumatra or other western islands, June to August is usually the most favorable period. For Sulawesi and Eastern Indonesia, the best travel window is from April to October. Keep in mind that mountain regions, such as around Mount Bromo, can be surprisingly cool in the early morning and evening. For divers, certain areas actually offer the best underwater visibility during the rainy season.

Islands of Indonesia

Indonesia’s vast array of islands makes it an exceptional destination. In addition to well-known islands such as Java, Bali, Lombok and Sumatra, the archipelago consists of thousands of other islands, each with its own unique character. The Gili Islands off the coast of Lombok offer a paradise-like experience without motorized traffic. Nusa Penida and Nusa Lembongan, close to Bali, impress with dramatic coastlines and tranquil bays. During your Indonesia round trip, island hopping is easy, allowing you to experience a wide variety of landscapes, cultures and atmospheres. From the Moluccas in the east to the Mentawai Islands in the west, the possibilities are endless. Each island group has its own distinctive culture, language and culinary traditions that will enrich your journey.
